Severe Allergies So your kid has allergies. Not the minor kind, we are talking about the kind that can leave you and your child stranded in the emergency room all night on a school night. This can come from something that you are aware of, or worse, something you have yet to learn about. Many children are allergic to things like peanuts, tree nuts, or even certain vegetables. Bee stings can also be a huge culprit. Hopefully you never have to deal with something as traumatic as one of these events. If that day ever comes, here are a few things to think about rather than stressing out to the point that you make poor decisions:
Make a plan – As a parent, you probably know that crazy things happen with your children all the time. If you make a plan in advance, you might be able to prevent a bigger and more severe problem.
Talk to your physician – Ask your doctor what he/she thinks your first step should be. Ask about an EpiPen – An EpiPen can be a great medication to treat the symptoms. Ask your doctor if it is right for you.
Keep calm – Simple as that. Keep calm because high stress levels from you can cause the child to have to deal with even higher stress levels than they already have to.
Go the the closest Emergency Room – Sure you have a preferred doctor, but the bottom line is, your doctor might not be available, and/or have the tools or medications necessary to treat the patient.
