Yoga

In Sanskirt, yoga means “union.” Yoga unites many things, such as the mind and body, the heart and soul, and especially our mental state with our physical state. By uniting our mental state with our physical state through yoga, we become more in tune with our body and how our body reacts in certain situations. When we become more aware of our bodies, we are able to consciously control how we react. The practice of yoga helps us get comfortable with the uncomfortable. One extremely important aspect in yoga is breath. Through breath, yoga practitioners are able to work through uncomfortable postures and push past their boundaries. Breath and the unification of our mental and physical states are not only important in the practice of yoga, but also carry over into our daily lives. Next time you breathe, consciously inhale and exhale and ask yourself, what does this do for my mental and physical state?
