Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Sleeping is an easy way to keep your body energized throughout the day. Who doesn’t like being told by their family doctor that getting some sleep will help them stay healthy? Getting a solid night of rest will help you stay awake at work when you need to be the most productive. Going to bed at a decent hour will also help you get past those morning slumps without the need for a bug cup of coffee.

It is important to try to get at least 6 hours of sleep every night.  Children need to sleep for longer as their bodies are still developing. A good 8 hours for your kids should suffice. As children burn more energy than we do in their waking hours, they need more rest during the night to replenish their bodies. Our family doctors recommend keeping them on a sleep schedule on weeknights while they are in school. This will boost their productivity in class and help them get those good grades you are always hoping for!

Sleep gives the brain a break from the stresses of the day as well. Even an afternoon nap on the weekend is beneficial as it relaxes your body and mind. Stress has no good outcomes on your life, so doing everything you can to rid yourself of it is always helpful. If napping is a part of that process, reward yourself with one!

Tune in tomorrow for another post and sleep well!
